Get Started

I hit rock bottom, too.

I want you to know one thing about me—I was once in your shoes, addicted to drugs and alcohol, feeling lost and alone.

I started playing ice hockey at a young age, and by 18, I earned an invitation to try out for the U.S. National Team Development Program (Team USA). It felt like a dream come true.

Unfortunately, drugs derailed this opportunity. I first encountered drugs and alcohol at parties, but I stayed away because of my commitment to ice hockey. However, after defending a teammate during my senior year, I was forced to transfer to Atlantic City High School. Feeling abandoned, I tried Percocet and cocaine, and that’s when my drug use escalated.

My turning point came after several arrests, including a DUI and violating my pretrial intervention with a possession charge. My parents disowned me, and I finally realized I needed help.

How did I turn my life around?

At 19, my parents forced me to go to rehab in Florida. I relapsed five times before my sixth rehab stay, where I decided to stay for 90 days. Between 60-90 days, something clicked, and I realized the extent of the damage I had caused. I knew I was done with drugs and needed time and space to think clearly. I learned that recovery could take up to two years for the brain to start functioning correctly again.

I got sober on February 21st, 2013 (11+ years of sobriety), I am now the CEO and Founder of Boca Recovery Center, a nationwide drug and alcohol treatment facility, and Founder of Clean And Sober, an online addiction recovery support community. Additionally, I’m a Certified National Master Interventionist (CNMI) from the National Association of Drug & Alcohol Interventionists (NADAI).

At 22 years old, I did something different for the first time, and that was to allow someone to help me. Since then, as long as I have made a conscious decision not to go back to using, I have been given the gift of experiencing all life has to offer.

Despair to hope. Embracing those suggestions and making changes has led me to a place of stability and growth I never imagined possible. The journey has been challenging, but the newfound clarity and purpose make every step worthwhile.

It's almost comical that I've been asked to write one of these because I never thought I would be here. Boca Recovery has given me the opportunity to live. They have allowed me to see past my defects and turn them into learning lessons that I have used for me sobriety.
